What a great couple of weeks. God is at work even when we are focused on something else.
I was asked to conduct a celebration of Life service for Donny Fletcher last Saturday. Donny accepted the Lord in 2009 and continued to grow in Jesus. At his bedside the day he died, were several wonderful Christians who lived their faith. There was joy knowing that Donny was prepared for heaven and he would beat us all there. Donny's sister was watching all of this. After Donny passed she said she wanted the hope each person in that room had. She asked Jesus into her heart and now has heaven in her future. God's timing, even Donny's pain, God used to touch his sister's heart. God is at work. Even when we don't see it. Pray for Bonnie as she begins this new life in Christ. We have many in our church that need our prayers. Go through your church directory and begin praying for those on each page. Whether you know it or not most all are going through situations where strength is needed.
This Sunday I will be speaking on "Seeking God". As a disciple this is a must. Let's come with a heart ready to seek God even from the middle of our situations. If you are unable to come because of illness or out of town you can click here to watch it and worship with us. This is a live stream service which means it begins broadcasting at 10 am on Sunday. If it has been awhile since you attended a Bible Study I want to invite you to join us at 8:45 and pick a class to get into God's word.
It has been wonderful to be back home from Sabbatical. It was a wonderful change of pace and opportunity to catch up on some reading and thinking about what God has in store for us as we continue into the future. God blessed with the opportunity to see behind the scenes in a couple of churches and ask a whole bunch of questions to a couple of pastors who have recently completed a pastoral transition in a way that has built up the church and kept things moving.
There are a few things in the works at the moment. We are wrapping up the baptistry update, we are going to rework our projector and screen situation on the stage as well as some lighting and sound system updates. Also we are starting the process with a branding company of what is called a 'brand refresh' which includes some logo, website, stationary, type things that will help us as we reach out to our community. I will be sharing more about this at the Mid-Annual Meeting on April 14th.
